Demelza House (Stonar) 2009

This year’s Demelza Cup was hailed a great success with £5535 raised for Demelza and plenty of good fish caught from Stonar Lake at Sandwich. Anglers fished for the heaviest individual fish from 4pm on Friday 11th to 10am on Sunday 13th September. The fishing was extremely hard with a cold north east wind blowing all weekend.
Local artist and keen angler Brian Mills presented one of his original drawings to winning pairs Karl Stevens and Dan Baines. The pair also won a Carp fishing holiday with Forrest Lakes in France.
The heaviest fish in the competition was Karl’s 12lb 12oz Carp taken from peg 2. T. Pookes reeled in another of 11.5lb from the road and Darren Offen a fish of 10lb. Although the big Stonar Carp were not seen over the weekend Jack Warner won the junior match with a very fine weighty bream of 6lb 15oz.
