July 2011

The first full month of angling this season started well with plenty of fish coming to the net across our waters.

Steve Heckley fished the Trenley ‘deeps’ with legered corn and worm baits to record a superb catch of twenty five bream to 5lb and five tench to 6lb.

Carp anglers at Fordwich Lake continued their great start to the season with many of the usual names reporting catches back to CDAA HQ in Sturry.

Three anglers had four carp a piece with Lee White weighing in the heaviest, a mirror of 26lb 12oz along with another lively ‘twenty plus’ common carp of 20lb 8oz. Jim Malyn’s four included a fine specimen of 24lb while Ady Minter enjoyed another mixed brace with a common of 24lb and a mirror of 26lb.

Liam Fagg fished from the car park end to bank three more fish to 18lb from close range while prolific carp angler Richard Bacchus bagged seven more to 21lb using fish meal boilies cast to 60 yards from the north bank.

All areas of the River Stour were seeing good catches with bags of 10lb to 15lb not uncommon. At Cut End river regular George Howson feeder fished corn to hook six bream to 7lb and a roach bag of 10lb.

During the middle of the month Fordwich Lake hosted Ben Davies who cast a boilie 80 yards from the ‘deeps’ to reel in a 27lb common carp.

The north bank of Fordwich Lake paid dividends for Darren Offen who landed ten carp to 24lb all from 100 yards range on fishmeal boilies. Dan Bowden banked five more to 24lb from the same area of the lake using similar baits, while Dave Footman’s 31lb common carp surfaced from the car park end at 60 yards range. Using similar tactics Dan Doleman landed yet another specimen common, this time a fish of 26lb 8oz also from the car park end.

At Trenley Lake Dave Allen caught forty nine bream and twelve tench to 5.5lb for approximately 250lb all on feeder fished corn over ground bait.
